Where do the Logomaker icons come from?

We’re dying to answer this question with something like, “Well, when a mommy logo and a daddy logo…”

But we’re a family blog…

Actually, this is a question we hear all the time.

Where did we get the thousands of icons featured in our logo design software?

Each of the icons you see in the Logomaker design tool were created by the former design team at Logoworks (which was once our sister company, but no longer).  In that process, each of our designers created two or three concepts, which we then presented to our clients. The client chose their favorite logo design—one that they really love—leaving anywhere from three to ten great concepts that disappeared into our archives.

Kind of reminds us of the Island of Misfit Toys. Only there’s nothing wrong with these icons.

Every day, our archive grew by more than another 100+ concepts. That’s a lot of unused logos. And some of them are amazing.

So we started taking many of the designs from the archive and adding them to the Logomaker design tool—making them available for anyone to use.

Today, when you search for a logo icon at Logomaker, you won’t find clipart or stock images. Just thousands of icons designed especially for logo projects by a team of professional designers.

And with so many great icons to choose from, you’re certain to find an icon that’s right for your next project or venture.

UPDATE: Since this article was originally posted, we are no longer associated with Logoworks, which closed, then reopened with completely new staff. Our fantastic icons are still here for you to use to create your own logo design. Check it out.
